Phonics
Today, we are learning another new sound from Set 3. If your child struggles with any of the sounds, please let me know so that I can support you.
Phonics lesson: Set 3 sound ‘a-e’ - This sound will be uploaded at 9:30am, by Ruth Miskin. Please watch the speed sounds and then the spellings.
You will have 24 hours to watch it before the video is removed.
Phonics challenge: Can you use one of the
words you have practised containing the special friend 'a-e' to write your own
sentence?
You might want to have a look at Oxford Owl to support your child’s learning.

Sentence Solver Activity - Can you cut out these words and rearrange them to create sentences?
Who could we save this time? Is it another creature, a person, an animal?
Now have a think and write down your reasons for why this character should be saved and reasons why your character should not be saved.
DT
Today, I would like you to practise your cutting skills. In Year 1,
we have been really struggling with our cutting skills so now it is time for us
to practise!
Now draw some of your own and cut them out. Please do not worry if
you don’t have access to a printer you can just draw them!
Cutting Top Tips:
1. Both thumbs should be facing up.
2. Elbows in.
3. Hold the scissors the right way up! Make sure your thumb is in
the little hole.
4. The writing hand is the cutting hand.
5. Build those muscles! Try some fine motor activities to help your
child’s strength.
Now have a think… how could you join materials together?
Have a try! Find some materials in your home and try to join them
together.
Stay Active
Exercise for 20-30 minutes. Go for a walk, run around, dance or play football. Anything that makes your heart beat really fast!
