Harrier Class - Year one. Hello from Mrs Bramley

All about me

Hello, I'm Mrs Bramley and I have just had the exciting news that I will be teaching you for two afternoons every week in Harrier Class in September.

I have been a Nursery Nurse for 26 years, and 10 of these have been at Carlton Primary school.

I live quite close to school in a little village called Great Heck. I have two big boys who are 17 and 15 who used to came to Carlton Primary school like you, called Jack and Josh. Jack is at College doing A levels and Josh is at High school doing his GCSE's.

When I am not at school I spend my time watching my boys play table tennis. They both train really hard and go in lots of competitions all over the country. Josh is very talented and is heading towards the England team. I love music and I am in charge of our wonderful school choir with Mrs Smith. I can play lots of instruments but I love playing the cornet the best.  I used to play in a brass band with Mrs Smith from being a child but I don't get time to do it now with my boys being so busy. I like to spend time with my big sister Mrs Smith who is your teacher over lock down doing funny quizzes written by her son Kieran.

I can't wait until I see you all again soon x

Kestral Class - Year 2 Hello from Mrs Stones

Hello Everyone,

My name is Mrs Stones.  I am really looking forward to working with Mrs Burton and Mrs Pemberton in Kestrel Class this coming September.  Times are different, but don't worry, we are all here for each and everyone of you.

I have worked at Carlton School over 20 years and my daughters Sarah and Ruth were pupils here too.  They are both primary school teachers.

Walking in the Lake District is one of the things I like doing best.  I also like to bake at home and in school.

I am looking forward to seeing you in September, happy times ahead.

Love Mrs Stones

Kestrel Class - Year 2 Hello from Mrs Mackintosh

Hello everyone. I am Mrs Mackintosh (or for short Mrs Mack) I am really looking forward to seeing you all and being your HLTA & Teaching Assistant in September!

I know it may feel a little strange to be back in school but don’t worry, we will work as a team to support one another and get through it.

As some of you know, I teach french and art in school but did you know I love to bake?!

Baking is my preferred pastime at the moment. I bake a variety of cakes and cheesecakes, which the staff and children throughout school will say are quite delicious!
Especially the staff as they are my cake tasters! I’m sure they don’t mind!
I even entered my first competition, the Carlton Fete Bake Off 2020!
I came 1st!
Always have a go, you could surprise yourself - anything is possible!

What is your favourite cake and why?

My love of art began when I was a young child myself and it has grown throughout my adult life. It will be a pleasure to help guide, support and inspire your artistic visions.

Once again, I’m really looking forward to seeing you all in September, keep safe and well.

Mrs Mackintosh

Kestrel Class - Year 2 Hello from Mrs Pemberton

Hello, my name is Mrs Pemberton,  I will be working with Mrs Burton in September.
I can't wait to see all your smiley faces in school in our classroom.

I have been working as a teaching assistant at Carlton in Snaith Primary school for 9 years. I love my job helping children in our school, in the classroom and at lunch times in the playground. I am terrible at remembering children's names, so am hoping you will help me remember yours in September. 😊

When I am not at work, I love to spend lots of time outdoors. I love walking my dog Lily - we enjoy the countryside around Carlton, as well as long walks in the Yorkshire Dales. My family and I also love the seaside. I love to eat fish and chips and love walking the beach. Do you like the seaside?

I also like to play tennis. I have played since I was 14 years old. I play in two tennis teams and help children to play the game. I have made lots of friends playing sport, and enjoy keeping fit.

I have an old car that I enjoy driving. My car doesn't go very fast and she isn't sporty, but I love her very much.

I love to travel on holiday with my family. My favourite places to visit are Majorca, France and The Yorkshire Dales. I love collecting fossils and sea shells on the beach.  Maybe you could collect some shells if you go to the seaside?

Have a lovely summer holiday.
I can't wait to see you in September

Exciting news from Mrs Chiverton

Year One Harrier class.

Hello, Mrs Chiverton here. I'm really excited to tell you all that I am going to be with you again in September. I know it may feel a little funny to be back at school but I will be there to help you all settle back into our routines and get to know your new teacher Miss Jackson, she is very nice.  I bet your Mummy’s and Daddy’s are happy to hear that I am moving up with you.

This will be my second year working at Carlton and as some of you may know I also run Carlton Owls, the Wrap around care within school. I've lived in the village for 20+ years with my husband and daughter Niamh, some of you may know her?  She is in year 5 moving up to year 6.  When I'm not at school I spend all my time at my caravan in Hornsea having fun on the beach or reading a good book.

I can't wait to see you all again in September.

A big thank you to the children in Aire class bubble.

Our team would just like to say a big thank you to our amazing Aire class bubble for making our job so much fun. The youngest children in the school have shown so much resilience and  followed instructions, and have adapted to a new way of learning really well. We have had so much fun and have laughed so much. It’s been fantastic to have some of our previous children back with us and see how far they have come. We have even had a new member try to join our bubble last week and we have spent all week watching and learning about him. Have a look at this super video Mr And Mrs Cooper sent us of him this weekend.

Here are some of our team who were at school when we
looked at colour and shape. They produced these lovely pieces
of transient art.

Home learning with Cody

Cody has really enjoyed some quality family time over lockdown. It’s so lovely to see him happy and brimming with confidence.

Helping Mum scan the shopping
I can’t believe how much Cody’s plants have grown.
Meet Cody’s new hen, Mrs Strawberry.
Cody went horse riding with Maisie
Cody finally got his hair cut. Wow, he looks so grown up now.

Home learning with Thomas

Thomas and his family have worked incredibly hard on our Blog activities over Lock down. I am so glad to hear he is practising his speedy green words and has worked hard on his pencil grip like I asked on the Blog.  His progress has been amazing and he is going to fly in year one.

I love this clock Thomas is using to learn to tell the time.
Wow!  Just look at the quality of this map.
Miss Jackson is going to be very impressed
when she receives this letter from Thomas.
Thomas thought that Ben’s shopping game looked
so much fun, he decided to have a go.
Thomas and his family went out for day trip.
Dad decided it would be a good idea to climb a
Mountain. It was brilliant, but Thomas isn’t sure
Mum thought so too. Thomas said “it was the best
day of my life, I can’t wait to go back soon”

Home learning with Stanley

Stanley has returned to our little bubble for two days a week and has adapted brilliantly. I don’t know how he has managed to fit all this wonderful home learning in as well ☺️

How to make Super hero buns with Stanley

First make sure everything is prepared
Stanley carefully cut and weighed the butter
Then he carefully mixed the ingredients together
Putting the sticky mixture in the cases ready to bake
Stanley decided to decorate the buns with sprinkles
He looks very proud
Stanley is definitely a scientist in the making.
He used his science kit to see what dissolved and what didn’t.
Then he tested the ph levels of other liquids in his house.
Stanley having fun at the farm while
learning how a pulley system works.
Learning how to pump water along a channel.
Stanley has been playing Guess Who
It is helping him learn how to use descriptive language.
What a fabulous idea!
