Phonics

Today, we are learning another new sound from Set 3. If your child struggles with any of the sounds, please let me know so that I can support you. 

Practice the sound ‘oi’

Practise: Set 1.1 and 1.2 green words. First use your Fred Talk. Then put Fred in your head and read them without sound them out.

Re-read our text 'of the 'Three Billy Goats Gruff'.

Whilst your adult reads the Three Billy Goats Gruff to you, create actions for the first half of the story (up to where the troll decides to wait for the medium Billy Goats Gruff).

Keep going back to the start of the to help you to remember your actions. Repetition of the story will help your child to internalise the story just like we do in class. You could even video yourself to help you to remember your actions.

Arctic Yoga

Be calm. Listen to this relaxing music while you do your yoga positions.

Practise these four yoga positions. Try to hold these positions for at least 10 seconds. Repeat the positions and hold them for longer each time.

In class, we have remembered a story about a grumpy troll who lived under a bridge and wanted to gobble up whoever was crossing his bridge...

...it must have been the three Billy Goats Gruff!

Task
1. Draw a picture of your own troll.

2. On your lined paper (pink homework book), write a description of your troll. Remember to write on the line and in full sentences. Don't forget your capital letters and full stops!

- What is your troll's name?
- What colour is your troll?
- What does your troll look like?
- What is your troll like?

Extra challenge:
Can you use some interesting adjectives (describing words)?

Instead of a 'big troll'... you might have the 'enormous, disgusting and terrifying troll'.

Capital Letters and full stops - Bitesize

We need to make sure that we use capital letters and full stops consistently in our writing. Ask your adult to write some sentences for you... Oh no! They haven't been into our Harrier Class so they don't know how to do capital letters or full stops. Could you get a coloured pencil and correct your adults work? The more practise you have the better you will get!

Listen to B. B. King - How Blue Can You Get?

About the song - This is a classic blues song written by Riley B. King (born 16th September 1925), known by the stage name B. B. King. It is a slow blues written in 1964 and is a sad song about being downhearted in love.

B. B. King is an American blues guitarist and singer-songwriter. He has a sophisticated style of soloing based on string bending and vibrato and has influenced virtually every blues guitarist that has has followed.
