Design a SUPER BEAR competition

John Lewis are running this super competition to raise money for the NHS. All you need to do is design your own Super bear using their online template, and upload the picture to their website or add it to their social media pages.

Here’s the link with details of the competition.  The closing date is 5pm on the 8th May 2020.

Giraffes Can’t Dance - Free online class.

I have just seen this event advertised for tomorrow and Friday.

This is a free on-line event run through Zoom (although they welcome donations)
It looks like a fantastic combination of dance, drama, songs and story telling fun!

Leaf man, oh leaf man..where can you be?

We have our first Leaf man!

Harry in reception had fantastic fun creating his own leaf man this morning.


Numberblock fun with Jordan.

Jordan has a real love of numbers and has really enjoyed learning about them at home with his Mum.

Play the same game every day for a week.
Can you improve your score?
How much can you improve?
Can you make it a family challenge, and every one have a turn?
Once you are an expert, then move up to the next set of a number bonds.

Home learning with Bobby


We were delighted to hear from Bobby this week. He’s been a very busy boy, baking, making pizza, climbing trees and hunting for bugs. He has also been doing his daily lessons and having lots of fun.

Bobby has been spendings a lot of time outdoors.
He has been on lots of long walks, used his binoculars to
go bird watching, and made some wonderful bird feeders.
Bobby is working hard on his football skills.
He is dribbling around his cones.

his new hot tub. I love his goggles!

Home learning with Harry

Harry has been learning a new skill this week in his garden.
Harry has loved learning how to ride over his ramp safely on his bike.

Harry the stunt rider! 

As well as this he is continuing to have a super attitude towards his learning and has begun to learn to tell the time.
This is a brilliant life skill to have.

Home learning with Rosalee

Rosalee has been incredibly busy with her home learning over the last week. Here are some of the exciting things she has been doing at home.



Rosalee found a big box and decided to turn it into a castle.  She really enjoyed cutting and sticking things onto it.

It’s great to see her remembering to how to write her words underling special friends, then checking her spellings by ticking and fixing her sounds.



Rosalee enjoyed collected dandelions and daisies for her wonderful picture. Rosalee also started thinking about other things that flowers can be used for.

Together with her mum, they have found a recipe to make Dandelion honey!

They are going to make some next week and will let us know how it went!


Rosalee has been extremely helpful at home,
 helping her Dad to paint the fence. 
She showed super perseverance and never gave up, 
even when she was tired.




Painting fun in the sun with Louis!

Louis has spent a lovely morning in the sunshine having some creative fun. Louis loved mixing the colours in his hands and making colourful handprints. He also enjoyed driving his cars through the paint to make tyre tracks, and even took out his dinosaurs to make footprints. This looks great fun!



Home learning with Isabella

Isabella has been working very hard on her reading this week, and has really enjoyed reading Fairy tales.  She has been doing her daily phonics lesson and has moved into set three now and is doing very well.
Isabella has enjoyed working on her number recognition and can now count up 100. She has also been accessing the year ones maths.

Summer Term - Week 2

I hope you all had fun learning last week. I have loved looking at, and sharing your learning with others.  This weeks tasks are below.

Weekly Maths Tasks (plus Hit the button, Numberblocks)

Please feel free to access activities from both year groups.

Receptions maths is linked to The Night Pirates.
Here is the link to a fantastic reading of  The Night Pirates read by  Rupert Penry Jones on CBeebies Bedtime story. 

Here is a new website that combines Maths and PE shared by Mrs Longfield - Maths on the move.

Weekly English tasks (plus daily reading and phonics session) This can be done in any order.

Daily Read, write inc session. Link to daily lesson These run daily on YouTube.

Talk for writing - Reception Booklet 

This is suitable for both Reception and year one pupils, as the writing tasks can be extended as far as you like. This is a 2 week unit. There are a number of tasks to complete so please don’t feel you need to rush these, as you have two weeks to complete the tasks.

On Monday Read, write inc are starting a new Story time with Nick, with new stories every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.


Spelling activities:

Please learn to spell and write the following words. You could do this by: 
  • writing on paper (look, cover, write, check)
  • outside using chalk - jump on each letter as you sound out and blend the word
  •  in the bath with foam letters
  •  in shaving foam or sand
  •  by writing the letters on pebbles and ordering them correctly
  •  words written on card and cut up into pieces to make a word jigsaws.

Weekly Wider Curriculum Tasks


History - Who is in my immediate family? 

This would be nice to talk about as a family, sharing photographs and memories. 
  • Where were my siblings, and parents born?
  • When were they born?
  • Where did your parents live as children?
  • Where did they go to school?
  • What games or toys did they play with as a child?
  • What do you have now that your parents didn’t have as a child? What has changed?

Science - The world around where I live! Can you go on a Tree Identification walk looking at leaves?

Aire Class Ongoing Task 


While we are in Lock down it would be a lovely idea to create a Time capsule containing memories of our special time spent with our families. This would be an ongoing project for the whole family. 

Be as creative as you can be!

A big smile from Louis!

Louis has a fantastic remote control robot. 
His robot can sing to him,  and you can even speak through it.

 It always makes Louis giggle when he plays with his robot.
 
I love the big smile on his face!

Home learning with Stanley

Stanley has been very busy over the last week. He has done some fantastic home learning with his Mum. Here’s what he’s been up to.







Stanley used all the family recycling to do some junk modelling.  He built this fabulous Alien Robot!












Stanley has been working hard on his daily phonics lesson.
Look at his fantastic spelling and writing.
I love how he has remembered to tick and fix,
after underlining his Special friends.

Stanley carefully followed some instructions to make his
Bumblebee chocolate lolly pops. He even used the microwave
properly to melt the chocolate. They look yummy!

Home learning with Thomas

Thomas is making super progress at home with his school learning.
 Here are a few of the exciting activities he has been doing this week at home.


Thomas is moving quickly through his set 3 phonics with
his mum. Look at this amazing spelling and  beautiful handwriting!


Thomas has enjoyed spending time outside in the garden.
He has planted some potatoes. I wonder if he will grow Supertato?

Thomas completed his plant and flower hunt, and made this lovely flower from the daisies he had collected.


Thomas has learnt all about himself as a baby for his history topic.

Thomas worked really hard with his mum to compete his reading compression.
This is a really valuable skill to have ready for year one.
