Home learning with Ben

Ben has had so much fun over Lockdown with a fantastic mix of outdoor and indoor learning experiences, all done through play. Ben has made amazing progress and is definitely ready for year one.

I love how Ben has been writing to me to tell me what he has been doing.
We all miss him so much!
Ben has to use his phonics to read these vets cards.
Then he matched the card to the correct animal.
Ben went on a maths treasure hunt around his house.
I would love to go to Ben’s shop.
Ben made these fantastic strawberry ice lollies for his family.
Ben loved watching swallows.
He said they fly very fast.
Another lovely letter from Ben 😊
Summer fun in his pool.

Home learning with Harry

I have absolutely loved sharing Harry’s home learning journey over the last few months. He’s shown a fantastic attitude and has made so much progress due to the dedication of his Nana and Dad, along with a big helping hand from his brothers. As well as this with his family he has spread so much joy in the community and stopped a lot of people from feeling very lonely over lockdown.

Harry taking his lamb in an adventure for his Talk4Writing booklet.
I love this spiral Harry made.
Lots of collaborative learning going on here.
Harry made this lovely farm and shared it in his
Rainbow walk in the community.

Meet the teacher - Mrs Burton Year two Kestrel Class

All About Me

Hello, I'm Mrs Burton and I'm really excited about being your new teacher in September. I know it may feel a bit funny as some of you haven't been in school for what seems like ages but I promise we'll get through it together and whatever you are finding tricky I'll help you to make it easier.

This will be my third year at Carlton, just like you! Before working in Carlton I used to work in a school in Leeds and before that a school in London. I used to live in Carlton but now I live in Brayton. My daughter is Annie, do you know her? She is in Year 5 at the moment. When I'm not at school or working, I love to read, my favourite children's book is 'The True Story of the Three Little Pigs' because its funny and a bit cheeky. What is your favourite book? I also love to go to the theatre and watch musicals. I love singing along. I also love football and my favourite team is Leeds United. When I'm not at school, I spend a lot of time walking my dog. She's called Sally and she is a black miniature poodle. If I go on holiday I love going to the Lake District or somewhere warm like Spain or one of the Greek Islands. Where is your favourite place to go?
Since we haven't been able to have our move up mornings, could you write and tell me all about you and maybe draw a picture of yourself too? It will help me to get to know you and if someone at home wants to write and tell me anything else about you too they can. You could either email it to me (mrsburton2020@carlton-in-snaith.n-yorks.sch.uk) or post it/drop it off at school.
I can't wait to see you all together in September.
Until then keep safe and please write and tell me all about you soon

Meet the teacher - Miss Jackson Year one Harrier Class

Hello, I am Miss Jackson. I am going to be your teacher in September. This will be my first year at Carlton-in-Snaith Community Primary School and I am so excited to learn with you. Although, it has been a little while since you have been in school I will be there to look after you. We will have a fabulous time together in Year 1, full of fun and learning.

My name is Miss Jackson and my birthday is 27th March. I have one brother. His name is George. I love animals and I have a dog called Alfie. I love food, baking and the outdoors. My favourite subject is Science because I like doing exciting experiments. I would like to get better at Maths because I find counting tricky. Do you think that you could help me?

Please could you write back to me and draw a picture of yourself. I would love to know a little bit more about you.

Here are a few questions to help you...
  • What is your name?
  • When is your birthday?
  • Do you have any brothers or sisters?
  • Do you have any animals?
  • What is your favourite hobby?
  • What is your favourite subject and why?
  • What would you like to get better at and why?
(Plus anything else you would like to tell me!)

Either post/drop at school or email to mrsburton2020@carlton-in-snaith.n-yorks.sch.uk and she will pass them on.

Thank you

Miss Jackson
